Frequently asked questions

Is there a file limit?

Only your available memory. Very large documents merge more slowly because the work happens in the browser.

Can it merge password-protected PDFs?

No. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then merge.

Does merging change the quality of the pages?

No. Pages are copied across as they are, with no re-encoding, so text stays selectable and images are untouched. The merged file is normally close to the sum of its inputs, and occasionally a little smaller where resources are shared.

Are bookmarks, links and form fields preserved?

Page content is preserved exactly, but document-level structures do not all survive a merge. Internal links and bookmarks pointing at pages in another file frequently break, and form fields sharing a name across documents can collide. Check anything interactive after merging.
