Frequently asked questions
How do I write a custom range?
Use commas and hyphens: "1,3,5-8" extracts pages 1, 3, and 5 through 8.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied into the new document exactly as they are, with no re-encoding, so text stays selectable and images are untouched. The output is a genuine extract rather than a rendering of one.
Why is a single extracted page nearly as large as the whole document?
Because PDFs share resources across pages. Fonts, embedded images and colour profiles are stored once and referenced everywhere, so a page carrying a large shared image drags that image along when extracted. If size is the goal, run the result through Compress PDF to Size.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
Not while it is protected. Remove the password in a PDF reader first, then split the unlocked file. This applies to any tool that has to read the page content, since the pages cannot be copied without being decrypted.
