Features

  • Record each envelope in seconds: search the guest, tap an amount, choose cash, UPI, cheque or gift, and Save & Next.
  • One-tap amounts that end in the traditional extra rupee: ₹101, ₹201, ₹501, ₹1,001, ₹2,100, ₹5,100.
  • Received and given, with the default chosen for you: a function you host records what comes in, one you attend records what you give.
  • A family guest directory that is reused across every function — the second time a name is typed, the village is already there.
  • What each family gave you last time, and what you gave them, shown as you enter — so you know what to return.
  • A warning when the same person is already on your list, and another when someone already has an envelope at this event.
  • An optional invite list, with a “not recorded yet” view so you can see who has not come to the desk.
  • Paste a guest list from a spreadsheet, a CSV, or just a list of names.
  • A live dashboard: guests recorded against guests expected, the total received, the cash and UPI split.
  • Entries taken while the network is down are kept on the phone and sent when it returns.
  • Nothing is deleted: a voided entry stays on record, every edit notes who made it, and a closed event is locked.

How to use the Shagun Register

  1. 1Sign in or create a free account — the register lives in your account so it is there from any phone.
  2. 2Create an event for the function, saying whether you are hosting it or attending.
  3. 3Optionally paste in your guest list so you can see who has not been recorded yet.
  4. 4At the desk, search each guest (or add them on the spot), enter the amount and how it was given, and press Save & Next.
  5. 5Watch the dashboard as the function goes on, and close the event afterwards to lock the register.

Frequently asked questions

Why does this tool need an account when most others do not?

A shagun register is only worth having if it is still there at the next function, on whatever phone you have then, and if it can remember what each family gave you years ago. The calculators here compute something and hand it back; this one keeps records. It also holds other people’s names and what they gave, so it is stored in your account rather than left in a browser that can be cleared. Everything else on FreePanda still runs without one.

Who can see what I record?

Only people who have been given access to your organisation. A guest list and the amounts people gave are kept in your account, are never shown to other accounts, and are never used for advertising. Roles decide what each person can do: someone at the gift desk can record and correct entries without seeing anything else in the account.

What is the difference between received and given?

Received is what guests give you at a function you are hosting. Given is what you give at one you attend, or what you return to someone. When you create an event you say whether you are hosting or attending, and every entry defaults to the matching direction — you can still change it on any single entry.

How does it help me know what to return?

Every guest is one person in your directory across all your events. Their page adds up everything they have given you and everything you have given them, and says which way the balance runs — for example, that they gave you ₹2,100 at your wedding and you gave them ₹1,100 at theirs. It is the memory a paper register loses between functions.

What happens if I type the same person twice?

You get a warning, not a block. If the name matches someone already in your list — the same phone number, or the same name with the same or a blank village — you are shown who, and can use that person or add a new one. Two different Ramesh Kumars from different villages are never confused. Separately, if someone already has an envelope at this event you are told what was recorded and by whom, so two people at the desk do not both take the same one.

Does it work when the internet is poor?

Entries you take while the connection is down are kept on the phone and sent automatically as soon as it returns; each carries a unique id, so a retry can never record an envelope twice. Searching your existing guest directory needs a connection, but adding someone new on the spot does not.

What if I record the wrong amount?

Edit the entry. Every change is recorded with what it was before, what it became and who changed it. An entry you recorded by mistake can be voided — it stays on the register, marked as voided, rather than disappearing, because a register that can quietly lose a line cannot be trusted.

What does closing an event do?

It locks the register: no new entries, no edits, no voids, until someone with permission reopens it. Close the event once the function is over and the totals have been checked.

How many events can I keep?

The free plan holds one event, with no limit on how many entries it contains — the tool never turns an envelope away in the middle of a function. Larger plans hold more events. Deleting an event frees its slot.
