How to use the Asset & Warranty Manager

  1. 1Sign in or create a free account — the register lives in your account so it is there from any device.
  2. 2Add an asset with its category, purchase date and price, and the warranty length from the receipt.
  3. 3Attach photos and the purchase invoice: the item, the bill and the serial sticker are what a claim asks for.
  4. 4Print the QR labels and stick one on each thing, so a scan opens its record.
  5. 5Log repairs as they happen, and download the claim pack when you need to make a claim.

Frequently asked questions

Why does this tool need an account when the others do not?

An asset register is only useful if it is still there next year, on whatever device you have then, and if it can email you before a warranty runs out. The other tools compute something and hand it back; this one keeps records and speaks first. Everything else on FreePanda still runs without an account.

When will I be emailed about a warranty?

A month before it lapses, again a week before, and on the day itself. One message per account rather than one per item, so five things expiring in the same week is one email. Reminders are scheduled the moment you record cover, and they move if you change the end date.

What is in the warranty claim pack?

One PDF with everything a provider asks for: the serial number, the purchase date and price, every warranty on record with its dates, the service history, and the photographs. It also names the purchase invoice you attached, so you know what to send with it. It is generated fresh each time, so a pack downloaded after a repair includes the repair.

How does the QR label work?

Print the label sheet, stick one on each item, and scanning it opens that asset in your register. The code carries a link rather than a bare id, so an ordinary phone camera with no app installed still works. Error correction is set high, because labels stuck on things get scratched.

How is the warranty status worked out?

From the end date and today, every time you look — it is never stored, so it cannot go stale. Cover ending within 60 days shows as expiring. Where an asset has several warranties, an AMC layered over a manufacturer warranty for instance, the one that runs longest is the one that counts.

Is the "worth now" figure a book value?

No, and it should not be used to file anything. It is a straight-line estimate: the purchase price run down to zero over the expected life of that category, which you can override per asset. It is there so you can see what your register is worth today rather than what it cost. Depreciation for a tax return uses different methods and different rates.

What can I upload?

Photos must be JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF, under 2 MB, up to three per asset. The purchase invoice may also be a PDF, up to 8 MB. The file type is checked from the file itself rather than its name. Everything is stored with your account and served only to people signed in to your organisation.

Can I show someone an item without giving them my account?

Yes. Share creates a read-only link, made for selling something on: whoever opens it sees what it is, when it was bought, and how much cover is left. It deliberately does not show the serial number, what you paid, or where you keep it. The link expires on its own after a month.

How many assets can I keep?

The free plan holds 25 assets and 10 saved documents. Larger plans hold more, and every plan is free to opt into during the launch offer. Deleting an asset frees its slot.
